Brenda Bass

Brenda Bass was born in Goldsboro, North Carolina and grew up in a loving and supportive environment. Her grandmother, who had a 6th grade education and eleven children, managed to instill in all of them a requirement for hard work and excellence that resulted in all her children attending college. Bass herself was a military brat who by high school had lived in segregated, integrated, and even foreign environments – North Carolina, Virginia, Kansas, Liberia, and Germany.

She attended Fisk University, where she thrived and enjoyed a diverse and aspiring African American community. She traveled abroad after graduation before returning to the United States to attend medical school at Boston University. While in medical school, she did a residency at Children’s Hospital in Los Angeles and decided to stay.

Bass would later rely on the kindness and protection of her upbringing and her ability to thrive in different environments to build her own successful pediatric practice that serves the diverse needs of Los Angeles’ youth population.

She has two adult children.
